As part of Stroller Strong Moms – we SLAM: Sweat Like A Mother. We YLAM: Yoga Like A Mother. We RLAM: Run Like A Mother. We GLAM: Glow Like A Mother. We DRAM: Drink Like A Mother (coffee, of course). And, it goes without saying, we LLAM: Love Like A Mother.

We can rock it when it comes to fitness and other necessary aspects of motherhood, such as coffee and SLAM Swag. But, when it comes to our nutrition, do we BLAM? Balance Like A Mother?

We are already balancing so much – rearing littles, keeping house, working, going to school, exercising, stocking the pantry, making time for family and friends. Each of us has a packed schedule, no doubt. And eating healthy? It can be really difficult to add one more thing to our juggling act. Some days we’re lucky enough to get something on the table for dinner – whether it’s a crockpot meal or cereal. Let alone sift through ALL the nutrition info out there these days, keeping tabs on which is the evil nutrient of the week – carbs or fat, gluten or dairy.

I’ll let you in on a little secret, come close.

*Balanced nutrition is not rocket science.*

There’s no magic bullet or secret ingredient that will solve all your health woes and give you a bikini-model physique. Phew – now you can relax. There are prescription diets developed to help certain disease states such as diabetes, celiac disease, kidney disease, and such. But, the average person benefits more from a balanced approach to nutrition rather than a prescriptive, restrictive diet.

And, that’s what BLAM is about. A balanced approach to nutrition. Only eating junk food and highly processed meals will not yield healthy results. Conversely, only eating raw veggies will not yield healthy results either (and might make you quite gassy!). Balanced eating includes veggies because they are good for you along with the occasional Reese’s cup because…treats are part of a healthy diet too!
