Barbecue Creek Park is centrally located between Sanford, Cameron, and Lillington. The park offers a lot of open space to run and S.L.A.M. There are small paved area, some paths and hills to add fun dynamics to our classes. After class there are fun playground equipment for bigs and littles to scramble over.

Parking & Meeting Location

The parking lot is directly in front of a baseball field and next to the playground. We will meet and start at the cul-de-sac directly next to the parking area.

Sarah Smalley |sarah@sweatlikeamother.com

Sarah is an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor, a Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach, and is certified in CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. Sarah also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Sarah found S.L.A.M. at Fort Leavenworth in 2017 when was pregnant with her son. (She doesn’t know motherhood without the S.L.A.M. Community!) In 2018, She moved back to the Cameron-Sanford area with her husband, Chris, and her son,Thomas. Here at Cameron-Sanford, she became an instructor while pregnant with her daughter, Anna Kate. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to take ownership of the Cameron-Sanford location in the Summer of 2020! Sarah’s favorite ways to “Sweat Like a Mother” are runs with her SLAM Sisters, Heavy Weights Workouts, and Chippers!

Sarah Smalley | Instructor & Owner

Alexa Smith | Instructor

Alexa holds a Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Certificate and has a master’s degree in Health and Physical Education. She has been an ACE certified group fitness instructor since 2011. She is CPR/AED certified through AHA and holds a Sports Conditioning Specialty Certification. Alexa created S.L.A.M. in Columbus, GA in 2011 and it has since grown to so many new cities. She founded Columbus, Savannah and Monterey, but currently resides in Sanford, NC with her husband, Tony, and three children, Destry, Velzy and Zoya. She is so excited to help lead Cameron-Sanford workouts! Her favorite ways to SLAM are to swim, play soccer, run, snow/water sports, and sweat alongside all her fellow #SLAMsisters at class of course!

 

Erica Wallace | Instructor

Erica Is an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and is certified in CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. Her S.L.A.M. Journey started in Fall of 2020 when she was looking for community & a solid workout! Erica has 20 years experience as a dancer and 3 years experience as a dance teacher. Her dance background and passion for fitness make her a natural coach! We love the way she leads and you’ll often find her youngest daughters, Vivian and Evelyn, cheering our mamas on as she coaches! Her favorite ways to S.L.A.M. are hikes with her family and Heavy Weights Classes! 

Shelby Parson | Instructor

Shelby holds an ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification and is CPR/AED Certified. She started her S.L.A.M. Journey in Tacoma, WA in 2018. She and her two daughters have been part of our Cameron-Sanford Affiliate Summer 2022! With a background in competitive gymnastics and experience as a personal trainer, Shelby has always been passionate and knowledgeable about fitness. Her favorite ways to “Sweat like a Mother” are EMOMs and Heavy Weight days! Shelby doesn’t shy away from a challenge…come to her class and you’ll see what we’re talking about!
