I’m also an Army veteran, a proud mom to one son, and married to my husband, a Marine Corps veteran. We first met back in 2012 during military training at Fort Leonard Wood, and it feels full-circle to now be building a strong community here.
I’m passionate about bringing women together through fitness, encouragement, and community. For me, S.L.A.M. isn’t just about a great workout; it’s about connection, support, and empowerment. I’m so excited to share this journey with you and to grow stronger together, inside and out. Let’s do this!

Lindsey Harvey | Instructor
Hello! I’m Lindsey Harvey, one of the coaches for SLAM Fort Leonard Wood. I have been an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and certified through the American Red Cross in Adult and Pediatric First Aide/CPR/AED since December 2021. My love for functional fitness comes from my 14 years of service in the US Army, where I created and led company level physical training and completed physically demanding schools such as Airborne, Air Assault, and Master Fitness Trainer.
After the Army, I dove into being an Army wife and stay at home mom for our three amazing children. I found SLAM in Colorado Springs in 2021 after our youngest was born, and it was everything I needed; from the routine, the extra physical push, to most importantly, the community. In 2022 our family moved to South Korea, where I worked with MWR and the installation Fitness Center for two years coaching a kid friendly class, similar to SLAM, for free. In 2024 my husband retired and we returned to his childhood roots here at Fort Leonard Wood, and I have been a part of this amazing SLAM Community ever since! My favorite classes to coach are heavies and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Empowering mommas to put weight on a barbell and seeing what they are capable of is one the best feelings ever as a coach.
I absolutely love the community around SLAM! Through this workout group, I’ve met some incredible and strong women who have made my experience in Fort Leonard Wood so much better. I’m so thankful to SLAM for these friendships. My 18-month-old also gets to play and learn from the other kids in SLAM, which is fantastic. Working out has always been therapeutic for me, and on this motherhood journey, SLAM has helped me navigate and talk through various motherhood challenges.
SLAM FLW has been a lifesaver for me. I’m in my mid-40’s and I have a five-year-old son. Prior to joining SLAM, I hadn’t worked out in years. I had significant bilateral hip pain for 10 months. I couldn’t keep up with my son. After doing SLAM for one month, my hip pain was gone! Several months in, I am losing fat and gaining muscle. I am stronger and I have so much more energy to keep up with my son. Plus, he gets to play with his SLAM friends and I don’t have to find childcare. It’s a win-win!
S.L.A.M. is just the perfect opportunity to meet other moms, stay fit during pregnancy or get back into shape after having a baby. I love that it welcomes anyone though, whether you are a mom or not. Especially being in the military and being relocated regularly, it can be so hard to find a community – so it is a blessing that SLAM is exactly that – a community of supporting women – more than just a workout group. The pricing is reasonable for what you get, the coaches are amazing and I love that it will be offered on many military locations. Hopefully I will get to join at our next duty station, too!
