Parking & Meeting Location

Park near the lower playground and join us on near the swings. You’ll need a stroller, water bottle, and snacks for your babes. We also use dumbbells, resistance bands and yoga mats. Don’t have those? That’s OK! Our instructors have extras. For everyone’s safety during class, all children age 4 and younger must be strapped into a stroller. Older children on a school break are always welcome! We just ask that they play near your stroller during each station. SLAMDads, family visitors and friends from out of town are always welcome free of charge. Class starts at 9:30 so we can get you sweaty and back to your busy day in an hour!

SLAM Boss

Jen Smith | jen.smith@sweatlikeamother.com

Jen is an ACE certified group fitness instructor, RRCA level one certified run coach, certified pregnancy and postpartum athleticism coach, and certified in adult/pediatric CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. She was introduced to SLAM in 2017 at Fort Leavenworth and realized just how important it was to be a part of a community of strong women that supported each other in life and in their fitness goals. For 3 years she SLAM’d in Fayetteville and ultimately made her way to San Antonio. After a year of instructing here, she was given the opportunity to become a boss! The journey from member to coach and now to boss has been so rewarding! She can’t wait to see what the future holds.

In her spare time, Jen loves to spend time with her husband, Kyle, and their 5.5 year old daughter, Emersyn. Jen has a passion for running that began in 2013 and it has led her to complete almost 300 races to include 50ks and a 50 miler. She loves being with her family, cooking, baking, traveling, and searching for the next running adventure.

Rachel Shughrue

Rachel Shughrue is an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and is certified in CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. Rachel also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Level Education and played collegiate field hockey. Before joining SLAM, she taught middle school math and science and coached soccer in Cameron, North Carolina. In 2019 with a new baby, a deployed husband, and new role as a stay-at-home mama, Rachel needed a community and that’s just what she found with SLAM Cameron-Sanford. “I will forever be grateful for this tribe of strong, supportive women that not only sweat beside you, but also take you by the hand and walk through life with you.” Rachel fell in love with SLAM and couldn’t wait to combine her two passions: teaching and fitness by becoming an instructor. She loves that her daughters, Leah and Makenzie, can watch and be surrounded by strong women. Rachel’s favorite ways to “Sweat Like A Mother” are playing pretty much any sport, running, and any sweaty workout with her SLAM Sisters!

Liz Wycklendt

Liz is an ACE certified group fitness instructor and certified in Adult and pediatric CPR/AED and first aid.

She found SLAM right after Covid hit and the world paused. She had an 18 month old daughter and was pregnant with her second and needed something for them to do. She had a friend at a different affiliate and she seemed to really enjoy it. Liz was thrilled to find that San Antonio had one! The day she attended her free class was the day she decided to join this community. Finding a group of women that understood the season Liz was in was so comforting.

Liz is married to Ricky and they have a 3 1/2 year old daughter Audrey, 18 month old son RJ and she is currently pregnant with their 3rd due in December.

She enjoys time with her family, reading, exploring whatever city they live in and watching a good reality show.

Krystal Fisher

Krystal is an ACE certified group fitness instructor, an Action certified personal instructor, and certified in adult/pediatric CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration. After 4 kids and a move to Fort Leavenworth she realized just how important it was to have a community where she felt she belonged. She was introduced to SLAM. She was a SLAM OG at Leavenworth in 2016. After leaving Leavenworth she moved to Fort Bliss and became an OG at  S.L.A.M. El Paso and also one of the instructors. This is where she found her passion and love for coaching fitness classes. Krystal is a mom of five boys. She loves competitive workouts and is full of high energy. Krystal tells everyone SLAM saved her life and awoken a passion in her. In her spare time she watches her boys play football, loves to bake, rock climb, ATV ride, and find new adventures.

I was so happy when S.L.A.M. opened up a location here in San Antonio. I had just given birth to my 4th baby and working out on my own was getting monotonous and my results were starting to plateau. That’s when I began S.L.A.M. and the variety of workouts helped me get over the hump and achieve my fitness goals! There are so many things to be gained by joining the S.L.A.M. family; health, fitness, and sisterhood being at the top of my list. It really doesn’t matter who you are or where you are at in your fitness journey, there is a place for you in our tribe!

I’m so happy to have found S.L.A.M Antonio! It is an amazing group of genuine, motivated, and caring women and their adorable little ones. Not to mention the kick-butt workouts-I feel so much stronger after just a few weeks! My son has really enjoyed the playgroups and Mom’s Night Out has been refreshing for me. I highly recommend this group to any mama out there!

SLAMantonio is a workout group unmatched by any other! They not only get you in shape with their full-body workouts while encoring you every step of the way (literally) but also act as an irreplaceable support group for all moms! Our monthly night outs are a blast and the kids enjoy all our playdates. I was so surprised how well my 2-year-old does staying in her stroller (even in the heat) and the instructors make sure all the kiddos stay entertained so us mamas can get that sweat on together. Love this group like family!
