August is YOGA month in DC!  It’s time to #SLAMwithmyOMies and learn what #namastrongmoms is all about! bamboo slam

Join us as we explore how yoga can bring balance, mobility and flexibility into our training and improve running!! Each regular SLAM class will either begin or end with a short yoga practice to complement the strength and cardio work planned for the day. We’ll also incorporate one full yoga class into the week.

And how about a chance to show off our new skills through some friendly competition!! We’ve got TWO challenges with awesome PRIZES to keep you motivated throughout the month:


 On August 3rd we’ll move through both a yoga fit test and a 1/2 mile timed run. Our breath work, core concentration and mobility drills in yoga will aim to improve run time. The yoga fit test involves some mobility, stability, core, and balance work – and will be run just like our Get Fit Challenge earlier this year….the person with the most improvements will be eligible for prizes!  Get pumped to see improvements in both yoga and running at the end of the month!

Social Media Selfies

Show us your stuff on social media! Each Sunday we’ll post a challenge pose with instruction – post yourself (and/or the kiddos!!) trying out the pose! Each post earns you an entry into our prize drawing at the end of the month! There will be a different pose on Facebook AND Instagram…so make sure you are following both accounts and submit both poses each week for double the chances to win something delightful!  When you post on social media, use the hashtags #namastrongmoms and #SLAMwithmyOMies.  Don’t forget to tag us, too!  @s.l.a.m.dc and “Stroller Strong Moms – DC Area/Nova” on Instagram and Facebook, respectively.


We’ve also got Mommy & Me zoo themed yoga on 8/19 for Wee Ones Wednesday, a yoga-inspired Mom’s Night Out, and a group yoga warm up before our monthly 5k.  More details to follow about these events – but just plan on stretching and OM-ing your way through August!
