Dear SLAMily,

Here at Stroller Strong Moms, we pride ourselves on being inclusive in every sense of the word. We provide a space for all women to show up as they are, every single day. But we need to do better.

I recognize my position, platform, and reach as the leader of a community that is spread throughout the US and the UK. I commit to using my platform to stand up to injustice, not hide behind it. As a white person, I realize there is suffering I have never had to face simply because of the color of my skin. I also understand that ignoring the problem is a privilege and I refuse to be silent. I am wholeheartedly committed to standing up for justice and equality, and specifically to being an anti-racist ally.

We, as a team, are committed to doing the work to educate ourselves and support our black community both in and out of class. We are reflecting, learning, and listening. We are doing the hard work now and we will continue to do the work long-term.

We have shared books and podcasts, signed up for anti-racism and allyship courses, have committed to listening to the stories of our black brothers and sisters, and researched ways to help our local communities. While we realize this is just a start, we hope to show you in action -rather than simply words- that we will be working hard for our community more effectively from here on out.  If there is a resource you’d like to share with us, we encourage you to do so. If there is a business owned by a POC that relates to our purpose that our company can highlight or support, we hope you will share them with us. If we mess up, please let us know so we can do better in the future.

Stroller Strong Moms is and will continue to be a place where we speak up for injustice, welcome all mamas, and actively work towards ensuring that we are both inclusive and diverse. We commit to using our privileged position to support the Black Lives Matter movement openly and proudly to create a group that is proud to be anti-racist adults while raising anti-racist children.

We will do better.
