October Member of the Month – Stephanie Corriveau

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I’ve been SLAM’n for 2 years now. I started my SLAM journey when my friend and now SLAM boss Katrina told me to try out a Virtual SLAM. I knew it was exactly what I needed from the very first SLAM sesh. I was hooked! I was always active and involved in sports when I was younger but since having my kids, I had ‘let myself go’. I was overweight and very ashamed of what I had accepted to be okay for myself. Virtual SLAM helped me not only become hooked on working out again and establish healthy habits, but it helped me become the best version of myself. My kids have seen me become strong and they love working out with me. They love SLAM just as much as I do. I am in the best mental and physical shape I have ever been in and that is all thanks to SLAM. I absolutely love my SLAMily.

Now, a little about me and my life. I am a military spouse and mom to three amazing little boys. Noah 10, Aiden 6, and Brady 3. My journey into motherhood was not the easiest or most popular way of bringing a child into the world. I don’t know many 17 year old girls that actually make a conscious decision to be a teen mom and my story is no different.

I had my first son Noah at age 17. I knew I would love him and raise him from the very start. I got my GED right away and went to work. Life was rough. Trying to make ends meet while caring for my son on my own was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. My love for this perfect little human made every minute of it worth it though. He became my whole world and we lived life together for 2 years on our own.

When Noah was 2, I met my husband Brett. We got married in Oklahoma where I lived, and he was stationed. We have been lucky to not have to move as much as most Military families, but we have moved a few times: Oklahoma to Colorado, back to Oklahoma and finally to Florida. We have been living in the Space Coast for 3 years now and hope to stay for as long as we can. This feels like home for us. My husband recently adopted my son Noah. It was a long process that he never gave up on and now our family is complete with our three boys. I feel I have been so blessed.

SLAM has become such a huge part of my life and I am so grateful to Katrina for introducing it to me when she did. I struggle some mornings getting there (mom life is chaotic, am I right?) but I try my best to be there every day and give it my all. Going to SLAM Space Coast and seeing all the kids and other mamas is definitely a huge motivator for me. Thank you to my SLAMily. I couldn’t do it without you.
