MEET NATASCHA FORD

Natascha here! Born and raised everywhere thanks to being a military baby. Although I claim the great state of Texas, I love being here in Georgia because it reminds me so much of home. I didn’t grow up playing sports even though my parents tried desperately many times to get me into everything…they didn’t expect for me to shine like the bright star that I was on my bowling team. Hey, hey! Whats up strike attack! Besides being an amazing bowler I am the queen of crafting. I love it all and try to make everything myself because I like the challenge. I can say I taught myself how to sew and its been the best thing since having my daughter because who doesn’t love spending 29 hours to make one baby dress? Now enough about my granny ways…

Let me start off by saying I am the least athletic person I know but since starting SSM I can now say I ran across the state of Georgia with some amazing women! Before I started SSM and joined the military lifestyle after my husband went back into the army in 2010 I would do my daily treadmill workouts at the gym. Fast forward to 2012 and the birth of our beautiful Megamind daughter Hazel…all physical activity stopped for a solid eight months. Then one day I decided it was finally time to get out of the house and I went to a mommy and me yoga class and met one of the happiest people I’ve ever met, Lindsay Platky. She told me about SSM and I started the following week. I have never felt so welcomed by a group of women, it was just what I needed to get me out of my slump. I will never forget those first couple of weeks because they were hard! Everyone kept telling me it would get easier and sure enough it did. Before SSM I had never run a 5k and now I can proudly say I’ve run many and made it a personal goal to beat each race time by at least 30 seconds. The workouts are hard and fun. I love that everyday is something new and you never know what you’re going to stroll in to. I also love that I haven’t been kicked to the curb yet for constantly being late, lets just say its my signature move.

Honestly I don’t know what I would do without SSM. We wake up everyday with a routine and it is a lifesaver. Getting out of the house and working out with Hazel really is one of the best things that I could have done for the both of us, I mean Hazel just turned two and does burpees?! Rockstar. This group of woman are the best you could ask for, we are all here to encourage and push each other to be the best “us” and it makes my heart happy to be a part of it. I have met many new life long friends thanks to SSM and I will forever be grateful for that. SLAM for life y’all!
