Kattie Stong | kattie@sweatlikeamother.com
Kattie is an AFAA certified group fitness instructor and is CPR/AED certified. After growing up in California’s Central Valley, she attended UC Irvine where she earned a degree in Anthropology and stoked her passion for fitness on the soccer field, in dance classes, on the yoga mat, and on the running trail. After her son was born in 2015, feelings of isolation and loneliness led Kattie to a postnatal yoga group in her San Francisco neighborhood. It was in that community of loving and understanding moms that Kattie discovered the importance of having a support network. When she and her family relocated to the Central Coast in 2016, Kattie knew she needed to find her “mama tribe”, and after her first SLAM class she knew she had found the community she was looking for. Now a mom of two, Kattie is excited to share her love of fitness and continue to grow the community of loving mamas here in the Monterey Bay area. Her favorite ways to S.L.A.M. are HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), circuit training, and running.

The Monterey Team

I started S.L.A.M. a couple of weeks ago and instantly loved the workouts and community, but today after class my daughter age 2 gave it the best review and I thought I would share. She said “I love Stroller class. Mommy, and baby, and Brooke (herself)” out of the mouths of babes! This group is more than a fitness class, come and see!

Kim Zepeda | Instructor
Kim is an ACE certified group fitness instructor and is CPR/ACLS/PALS certified. She also works full time as an ICU nurse. She has lived on the central coast for 7 years with her husband Chris and
Alison Bogan | Yoga Instructor
Alison gave birth to her third child just a couple months after relocating to Monterey, and was happy to find SLAM for both fitness and community. She has been practicing yoga for 21 years and has completed over 500 hours of yoga teacher training in the last five years, including becoming LYT™ Yoga Method Level 1 certified in 2020. In addition to practicing through her three pregnancies and postpartum, Alison has taken classes with leading pre- and post-natal yoga and pilates teachers in San Francisco and has been teaching Yoga Like a Mother for SLAM Monterey since 2018. Her classes are fun, functional vinyasa flows that take into account our modern way of life, injury prevention and the specific needs of mother athletes.
Her mission is to help every person to move and feel their best in their beautiful body. This means being both strong, mobile and adaptable. Outside of her yoga practice, Alison enjoys biking, running, skiing, body boarding and relaxing at the beach with her family; and of course hiking and exploring the beautiful state and national parks all around us.
Just did my first class and I can’t wait for the next! Power packed hour and baby was entertained the whole time. Love that there are two location options.
11 months later – SLAM has become part of our weekly routine and I could imagine it any other way. I’ve become the best version of myself with SLAM and love that my baby boy gets to watch all my progress. This group is definitely more than just a workout class and I leave each session feeling as excited as I did that first day.
